Pork Chops, Onions and Gravy with Pastry - Bonita's Kitchen
Welcome to Bonita's Kitchen! Today we will be making Pork Chops, Onions and Gravy with Pastry, made with lean pork and deboned and topped with lots of onions. See recipe below! Ingredients: 6 pork chops ( Boneless ) • 1⁄2 tsp Sea salt • 1⁄2 tsp Black Pepper • 1 tsp onion powder • 2 Tbsp Flour more if needed • 2 Tbsp oil more if needed • 1 tsp butter • 1-2 large Onions, thinly sliced • 1 Cup broth or stock • 1 Tsp cornstarch, or flour - more if you like it thicker • 2 Tsp water Method: 1 In a large plastic bag or container add, onion powder, salt and black pepper, flour, then toss pork chops in one at a time and coat evenly. 2 Fry pork chops in butter and oil over medium to high heat for 5 to 7 minutes on each side, until a golden brown. After remove from heat and place in a oven safe pan. 3 Then add sliced onions and cook for 5 to 10 minutes, turning onions over, remove onto pork chops. 4 Add broth or stock, bring to a boil add a pinch of oxo or browning. 5 Stir together cornstarch or flour and 2 tablespoon water., pour in stock/broth stirring it in. 6 Transfer into oven proof dish with onions and pork chops, then make pastry. Pastry 1 cup white or wheat flour 1/4 cup Cold Butter 1/2 tsp salt 3 Tbsp cold water 1 piece parchment paper Mix flour, butter ( chop in pieces) and salt together in bowl mix with your hand or food processor when mixed add water mix until it shapes into a ball then remove from bowl/mixer. Put a piece of parchment paper on the counter and sprinkle with flour then put your pastry ball on top of it then roll until all even. After rolled out put pastry over top of pork chop mixture, place in a 350º oven for bake for 15 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. ( depending on your oven) Remove from oven and serve with fresh vegetables or fries.
