Rocks exposed to the Earth's crust are constantly undergoing changes due to environmental factors. The set of physical and chemical alterations suffered by these exposed rocks is called weathering. For didactic purposes, we have three types of weathering that act simultaneously and jointly on rocks: physical weathering, chemical weathering, and biological weathering.
