Are Dermatome Maps Reliable and Specific?
This study was conducted to evaluate the consistency of patients’ report of radicular radiation patterns based on nerve root levels for the low back and lower extremity. What becomes apparent is that the discretely packaged lines of dermatomes that are based on sensory innervation may not represent such a report of patient with radicular pain.
