MY JOURNEY TO GREATNESS with MALEBO | Part 1| All things GENETIC COUNSELLING | background

Hey guys. In today’s interview, I have Malebo Malope. I’ve talked so much about this lady in my interviews and that is because of the impact she has had in my life. Malebo is that big sister to me who held my hand when I was deciding which career path to take for my masters and when I got to Cape Town. She is amazing and by the way the First Black Genetic Counsellor in South Africa. Malebo Malope is a I genetic counsellor. She completed her masters in genetic counselling and genetic counselling internship at the University of Cape Town. Malebo is passionate about making genetic counselling services and information accessible, for that reason She created social media pages to educate the public about genetic terms and any other relevant topics.Creating awareness about genetic counselling is important to her in order to spark interest for more Black people to choose it as a career. “We need more diverse genetic counselors to serve our diverse South African population.” - Malebo. The highlight of her social media pages are live interviews that She has with patients and professionals. Furthermore, Malebo believes that educating the general public is integral because genetic services are not accessible in all provinces in the country. In addition to genetic counselling, Malebo enjoys hiking, watching movies at the cinema, cooking, reading and anything art related and just enjoying life. She is passionate about her faith and it has shaped  her into the person and the genetic counsellor that She is and she highly value the love and support from my family. My journey is a web series which aims to motivate, inspire and profile young South African individuals that are doing exceptionally well in their field.
