Power Amp vs Preamp Distortion in a Valve / Tube Amp - Info & Demo (Marshall Origin, 5150lbx, VC15)
In this video I explore and demonstrate what happens when cranking a valve amp into power amp distortion! I have decided to use 3 very different amps - the Marshall Origin 20 which I think relies heavily on it's power being distorted for that classic Marshall tone. At the other 2 ends of the spectrum, I have the EVH 5150lbx which has a lot of preamp gain and a Laney VC15 which has no preamp gain at all.
