"Prayer, the Power of Words & Women's Legacy in Islam" | 💫QLP 2026 Discussion #5

The Qur'an Literacy Program (QLP) reaches its halfway point with a powerful discussion on prayer, the power of words, and the intentional legacy of Muslim women. Facilitated by Nadia Shaiq, participants reflect on Qur'an 8:56–66, 9:40, 9:38–46, and 2:269, exploring questions such as: • How does prayer affect the physical world? • What words have we been taught to say about ourselves? • What is the relationship between the heart and knowledge? • What is true wealth according to the Qur'an? • What can we learn from Asma bint Abu Bakr's role in the Hijrah? Throughout the discussion, participants consider mindfulness in prayer, the healing power of language, spiritual resilience, and the importance of recovering the stories of women whose leadership shaped Islamic history. One of the session's most moving conversations centers on Asma bint Abu Bakr and how intentionality, patience (sabr), and courage challenge the way Muslim women's contributions are often overlooked.
