Is Through Spindle Coolant Worth It? Machining an Electrical Housing on the Tormach 1500MX

There's something satisfying about watching chips just... disappear. In this video, Rebecca from Mil-Spec Manufacturing is machining a 6061 aluminum electrical housing on the Tormach 1500MX — pockets, drilled and tapped holes, chamfers, the whole deal. But the real story here is what TSC does when you're deep in a pocket and chips have nowhere to go. Rebecca's been trained on gauge blocks, edge finders, 3D testers — all of it. And there's a time and place for every tool. But when you're running 38,000 lines of code on a complex part and you need clean pockets, good surface finish, and your tooling to actually last — TSC just makes sense. No recutting chips. No trashed surface finish. No babysitting. This was also a first article run, so you'll see Rebecca proving the program out in real time — stops, camera repositioning and all. Keeping it honest. By the end we've got crisp pockets, smooth internal radii, clean chamfers, and a finish that catches the light. Pretty hard to argue with the results. If you're a machinist running complex pocketed parts and haven't leaned on TSC yet — hopefully this gives you something to think about. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Interested in the Tormach machines?
