1978 Suzuki RM250 C2 Expansion Chamber repair

In this video I have a new expansion chamber for the bike, this one is in need of repairs. The pipe does fit but requires some attention. It has a large patch at the very front of the belly of the pipe. I start by using an angle grinder to cut the patch just inside of the weld, then using an air chisel and hand tools to peel the patch back, it then reveals a very large hole. I then trim the hole of the worst of the damage and form a new patch to be butt welded in the hole. I use a sandbag and hammer along with the English wheel to fashion the new patch, I then tack in place using a MIG welder, then finish welding with the TIG welder. Then reposition the front pipe mount and TIG it in place. Then finish with a nice coat of heat-resistant paint.
