I visited the abandoned mansion in Higienópolis that became famous thanks to the podcast "A MULHER DA CASA ABANDONADA" (The Woman of the Abandoned House). The podcast is a production of Folha de SP, written and narrated by journalist Chico Felitti. It tells the mysterious story of Margarida Bonetti, a resident of this abandoned mansion, a fugitive from American justice for having enslaved a Brazilian maid who moved with Margarida and her husband to that country. The podcast's success was so great that it attracts curious people from all over and has transformed the house into a "tourist attraction," however strange that may sound. THE HOUSE The mansion, which belonged to the doctor Geraldo Vicente de Azevedo, son of the Baron of Bocaina, was built in the mid-1950s and has always been in the family's possession. It has 300 m² of built area, and because the surrounding area is a protected historical site, it is not possible to build an apartment tower there, making the property an exception in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in São Paulo.
