100 consecutive win challenge achieved in the Sinnoh Battle Tower - Pokémon Diamond
After managing to beat Tower Tycoon Palmer in the previous video, my consecutive win streak reached only to 52. I was quite frustrated after many constant attempts after each recording session day after day, over and over again, trying unsuccessful combinations. As the end of the month was approaching, I decided to leave my target until I reached the next one that I planned to do as an optional after this one. After achieving my optional objective, it was time to resume this challenge with my most common Pokémon. However, I decided to add a new Pokémon to my team after reading an article from a Smogon web page where information about the Battle Tower was shared. I saw a particular Pokémon team of three that apparently performed so well that you could get a streak of 200 or more consecutive victories with it following the conditions and the strategy described. From the beginning I did not want to copy that same team because I thought that with my usual Pokémon it was enough, also, I did not like the idea of just copying, so I decided to go and get one of them only, Garchomp. I already knew it was a good option for the Battle Tower. With Garchomp on the team it was easier for me to get to the second battle against Tower Tycoon Palmer. I managed to break my record of 52 consecutive victories but by little difference. Again I tried several times trying new combinations, but it was not enough. In each defeat suffered I could only contemplate the bad luck I had. After looking for other recommended Pokémon to achieve the challenge, several attempts later, I came to the conclusion that either I would get the same Pokémon that I saw on that page or I would keep trying, risking wasting more time. Finally, I got the Starmie and Tyranitar I was looking for less than I thought and started training them. When I returned back to the Battle Tower, I followed the streak I had in the third round which is where I had left off last time. I was very confident that I could go even further with my new team. I was starting to easily reach the second battle against Palmer and defeat him without much difficulty. But in the end I always ended up losing the streak due to some mistake of mine or simply bad luck. This happened to me so much that I reached a point where I stopped getting angry and just thought about trying again without thinking it twice. I got used to the Battle Tower like when I was competing in my Pokémon Sapphire's. I even competed while recording and watching Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters series at the same time to advance as far as possible and save more time. All I was hoping for was to get to the most advanced rounds possible until I was done recording and go quietly lie on my bed to focus on keeping the streak going. My last best win streak was 75 consecutives. I was defeated by an Alakazam that easily sweeped all my Pokémon. One of my most painful losses was on a 41 win streak where there was a double knockout due to my Starmie got fainted with the Life Orb equipped. I found that even if my opponent fell before my Pokémon, it would count as a loss as well. That was amazing to see. Lately, I was starting to take advantage of every start from the beginning so that all my Pokémon that participated directly or indirectly in the Battle Tower could get their commemorative ribbons. Finally, the waited day arrived. On that day, I was able to break my record and keep the streak by predicting the movements of most of my opponents much better and staying calm in all moment. I was starting to see the streak I was doing, but I didn't stop concentrating and controlling my emotions. I trusted my team more and more as I progressed through more rounds. In the first battle of round 13 or 14 I had a surprise, but I kept believing until the end and I won that battle. I felt like the worst was over. Each time I was seeing my goal closer until I reached the 15th round where I was 2 wins away from getting my long-awaited objective. I waited for the living room to be quiet and for the fourth recording session to finish before I starting recording again on my Pokémon Diamond. I was tense but I controlled myself in all moment and in the end I got it!! The only thing I wanted was to save my record and see it once and for all, but also to continue with the streak until the end and that's how it was.
