Why does ITP occur in Children , Is it curable? ITP, or immune thrombocytopenia, can occur in children when their immune system attacks and destroys their platelets. While the exact cause is not fully understood, it is thought to be related to genetic and environmental factors. Most cases of childhood ITP resolve on their own within a few months without treatment, but some may require medication or other interventions to manage the condition.
