In a Western cultural context, we usually associate this word with being out of control, or even mentally unstable. But as Dr. Eva Natanya explains here, this term has quite a different connotation in guidance from Dudjom Rinpoche (and the Dzogchen teachings of Tibetan Buddhism in general). "He's 'unhinged.' But what is he unhinged from? Dualistic modes of apprehension."
