I decided to make this a series and call it Painting Masters (: So We've got Alvaro's and now this one, and I plan on doing many more! 🎨YOUR FEEDBACK MATTERS 🎨 Let me know in a comment below what you think of this episode, and if this seems like a good direction to continue working on. 🎨PAINTING REVIEW 🎨 I absolutely love this one. Here are some of the things I mention in the video. 1. The general mood and atmosphere of this painting. This feels to me like mid-day, or just a little later than that. I believe joseph wanted to convey an impression of strong sunlight hitting the rooftops of the houses. Light seems to come from the top right. 2. There's a great sense of scale and depth. This is achieved by gradually changing the color scheme from gray / blue to green (and a bit orange for the rooftops). 3. Everything in the distance is blurred and merged together, while elements that are closer to us are portrayed more sharply, using dry brush. 4. The dry brush near the edges, especially at the bottom left area, is meant to not take focus from the centers of attention. By using a weak dry brush, there isn't a strong point of contrast, and the eye of the viewer isn't particularly attracted to that part. It's almost like periphery vision. 5. The rooftops aren't as light as you may think. The reason is that they are inherently darker than the walls. However, they are ligher relative to their "inherent" / "original" color, and this reads extremely well, giving them a sense of being real. I often make the mistake of making an object too light (or even paper white), when in fact it's much darker than it appears to be. This can be solved by desaturating the image (turning it black and white), and seeing the true values. 6. A strong contrast is achieved thanks to the rooftops' color. The warm orange contrasts with the light gray green, as well as the blue of the walls. 7. The technique used for painting the crops and fields. This is probably negative painting, and then some wet-in-wet. 8. There's thick and opaque white paint that's used for the roads on the right. 🎨CONCLUSION 🎨 And this is it for today! I hope you enjoyed this vid, and we'll talk soon (; Liron ** MUSIC CREDITS ** Clear Sky by jimmysquare   / jimmysquare   Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported— CC BY 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/b...
