WWI Draft & The Hutteries | From the Great Plains to the Great War
2.7 million men were drafted into the United States Army during World War I. About 5,500 of those men were conscientious objectors, those who refused military service for moral or religious reasons. They were still legally required to report for duty at various military camps. Among those were four men from South Dakota.
