Stop Hitting Your Serve OUT (Do This Instead)

Struggling with your serve? In this CCC, I work with Travis, who has only been playing pickleball for a month, to build his serve from scratch. His biggest issues were :• Hitting up on the ball • Balls flying long or wide • Inconsistent contact • Poor swing mechanics Instead of driving through the ball, he was lifting it, which made it difficult to control and repeat his serve. We broke down the mechanics and focused on creating a more natural, repeatable motion. We worked on: • Dropping down through contact • Swinging forward instead of upward • Finishing the motion correctly • Developing a more consistent swing path To help reinforce the mechanics, we used several progression drills, including: • Shadow swings • Drop-and-catch drills • Hitting into the net to learn the proper motion Once those adjustments clicked, his serve became much more consistent and controlled. If you're new to pickleball or struggling with your serve, these simple drills can help you build a solid foundation.
