FINALLY Painting The 1967 Mustang Fastback 'Jet Black Green Mica'
Today is the day! The '67 Fastback is in the paint booth getting color! Jeff at Thunderdome Car Museum has been putting in tons of work on the car, and it's paying off. This painting process involves 4 stages: light gray primer surfacer, dark gray primer sealer, 3 coats of custom base coat, then 3 coats of clear. However, it's still considered a two stage page job. The color is a custom color that we came up with that we're calling "Jet Black Green Mica". It's based off of a Porsche color that I really like called Jet Black Metallic. That color has blue and violet metal flakes in the paint. For our color, we substituted the blue and violet metal flakes for a green metal flake, to pay homage to the green color that the car was when I first got it. This restomod Mustang is coming together nicely. It gets my vote for muscle car of the week! Do you have questions about painting a car?
