KETTLE METTLE @townofprincetonbc JUNE 20 2026 25K 1ST PLACE FINISH

TURN ON CAPTIONS FOR COMMENTS #gravel @covebikes4616 #gravelbike #kettle #mettle #princeton #race #amputee #cycling #cyclinglife #cyclingride #kettlevalley #kvr this was my 2nd Kettle Mettle event. Last year met with a few foreseeable mechanical issues that thankfully did not repeat this year. However, timing became an issue, my Garmin watch messed up as did the official course timer. My unofficial time was 1:12:48 using my camera footage as a timer. My avg speed was approx 22kmh, which is about the same as the winners of the 60k event. This was a slightly different course with the addition of the highway and hill section up to the KVR. The KVR was sandy and rocky in places, one rider did crash on the final section of the KVR. I almost wiped out after passing the lady with the dogs. FYI I ride and GT E Grade E Gravel Bike all stock apart from Redshift suspension on the seat and handlebars. I am also an above knee amputee. One significant different learned from last year is to use a reversed piece of velcro sticky side up to secure my prosthetic foot from continually falling off the pedal, which happed about every 5 minutes in last years event. Thanks to all the organiser especially Dean who puts on these events. Next event in this series will be in late September in Squamish. I will be taking part in the Terry Fox Ride July 5 10AM in Port Coquitlam and in Vancouver August 4th
