Solo Jazz Guitar - Andy Brown at the Green Mill 9/26/24 - ALL REQUESTS for two complete sets!
I had a really fun solo guitar gig at the Green Mill in Chicago on September 26, 2024. I love playing at the Mill because of the supportive and knowledgeable listeners that come every week to sip a drink and listen to solo jazz guitar. My heroes have always been people like pianist Dave McKenna, who called himself a "song player," or a "saloon player." My steady gig at the Mill is right out of that mold. The requests are always flying when I'm playing, and on this night a ton of good ones came in. My friend Ivy Glennon happened to be filming that evening, and she captured all 17 songs I played that night. Her footage captures the vibe of a typical Thursday at da Mill - the bartender is working hard behind the bar keeping the drinks flowing, the audience is having a good time, and the guitar player is trying to remember the old tunes. When I watched the footage it turned out each song I played that night was a request. I thought it would be fun to share the whole gig on this video. It's such a thrill to fill two sets of music with songs folks in the audience want to hear, and on this night it all came together! I play there every Thursday for the cocktail hour show and always have a good time playing and hanging out with my friends. If you're ever in Chicago, stop by and say hi!
