Culisele scandalului companiilor de stat: PSD, banii din PNRR și acuzația că „vindem țara”

The listing of state-owned companies was one of the central arguments in the motion of censure by which the PSD and AUR dismissed the Bolojan Government. In the motion entitled “STOP the ‘Bolojan Plan’ to destroy the economy, impoverish the population and fraudulently sell state assets”, the PSD and AUR accused the Bolojan Cabinet of preparing, under the pretext of the PNRR, “the largest alienation of strategic assets in the last two decades” and that packages of strategic companies would be directed, through the accelerated placement mechanism, to selected investors. Acting Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu says that she discussed several times with PSD leaders before publishing the list of state-owned companies that could be listed on the stock exchange. She claims that none of them explicitly opposed this proposal. “No, there was no such discussion. Nobody said: ‘I am against it,’” says Gheorghiu, when asked if anyone in the interministerial committees rejected the listing of minority stakes in state-owned companies. However, she admits that there is still a risk that Romania could lose 400 million euros from the PNRR, because it is likely that it will not succeed in reducing the number of interim members on the boards of directors of local state-owned companies.
