This is Why I Learned to Skip a Jig

went out kayak bass fishing in the Pacific Northwest looking for smallmouth, but I also wanted to keep practicing one of the hardest techniques I’ve been trying to learn: skipping a jig under docks. I’ve been told over and over that dock skipping can catch giant bass, especially here in Washington, and I was even taught by someone who has caught multiple 8-pound largemouth doing exactly that. I knew there was a reason to learn it, but on this trip, I finally got to experience it for myself. After trying a few different things and working my way around the lake, I skipped a jig under a dock and hooked into an absolute giant largemouth. This is exactly why I wanted to learn how to skip a jig. The day started as a smallmouth fishing trip, but it turned into one of my best bass fishing days of the year. I kept working docks, caught more bass later in the day, and ended up putting together a really solid limit with a mix of jig fishing and drop shot fishing.
