🧑🎓🏅 Universities Should Keep Teaching People to Think for Themselves | Professor Geoffrey Hinton
"...they can also just keep on teaching people to think for themselves" AI pioneer and Nobel Laureate, Professor Geoffrey Hinton, visited University College Dublin this week, meeting with UCD President Professor Orla Feely and delivering a lecture on the future of artificial intelligence. From preparing students for an AI-driven future to tackling misinformation, AI safety and responsible innovation, the University of Toronto professor also shared his advice for the next generation of researchers ahead of the lecture: "[When] you think people are doing it all wrong, and you're right, and you should stick with that belief until you discover why you're wrong." Awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics for pioneering work on artificial neural networks that laid the foundations of modern machine learning, Professor Hinton also received the UCD Ulysses Medal that year in recognition of his extraordinary global contributions, the highest honour that the university can bestow. #artificialintelligence #nobelprizewinners UCD Twitter: / ucddublin UCD Facebook: / universitycollegedublin UCD Instagram: / ucddublin UCD Homepage: http://www.ucd.ie
