The story of Erik Riyanto's spiritual journey continues to its most decisive and tear-filled chapter. While in the first part, he recounted his journey as a missionary who distorted the verses of the Quran, in this second part, Erik shares the tense moments when that guidance truly took hold and completely changed the course of his life. It all began with a simple moment on Eid al-Adha. Witnessing the slaughter of sacrificial animals, Erik remembered the teachings of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and questioned why Christians no longer practiced the law of sacrifice. The priest's answer, stating that the sacrifice had been replaced by Jesus on the cross, triggered intense inner turmoil. The culmination of his quest came during a dialogue with a Quran teacher, Bang Jali. A striking comparison between Bible verses (Deuteronomy 6:4 and Mark 12:29) about the oneness of God and Surah Al-Ikhlas left Erik speechless and unable to argue. That same evening, amidst the echoes of the takbir (Islamic call) of Eid al-Adha 2018, Erik and his wife went to the Ibn Hajar Islamic Boarding School to recite the two sentences of the shahada (declaration of faith). However, a test of faith (as stated in Surah Al-Ankabut, verses 2-3) immediately confronted them. After posting a status update wearing a peci (traditional Islamic cap) and a koko shirt, Erik suddenly lost his well-paid teaching job at a renowned Christian school. He lost his house, car, and all his possessions, leaving him forced to live hand to mouth. Amidst all his financial hardship, Erik discovered a blessing he had never experienced before.
