The Haunting Beauty of St Lawrence's Forgotten Railway Tunnel

The Old Railway Tunnel at the Bottom of the Island #disused #railway #tunnel St Lawrence Tunnel sits smack bang at the very Southern most point of the Isle of Wight. The Railway through to Ventnor opening in 1897 and lasting only until the 1950s. This railway tunnel ( St Lawrence ) had a later life as a mushroom farm but has since laid derelict and forlorn for around 30 years. Its been 70 years since closure more than half of its life. The Isle of Wight once had a huge network all over the Island, i aim to uncover more of these lost railways over the next few months on the Isle of Wight.
