Loenen aan de Vecht | Geschiedenis, Buitenplaatsen en Vecht

Today I am walking through historic Loenen aan de Vecht and along the river Vecht. During this route, I discover a village with more than a thousand years of history. Loenen was already mentioned in a charter of King Otto I in 953 and has a rich past including Kronenburg Castle, the Reformation, and events from the Second World War. Along the way, I walk past monumental buildings, old country estates, and the Vrederijk estate. I also visit the Damsluis in Nieuwersluis, a historical part of the New Dutch Water Line. For a large part of the walk, I follow the Vecht, a river that was an important trade route for centuries and is nowadays mainly known as quiet, historic waterways. 👍 Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more walks through Dutch cities and special locations!
