JUZGAMIENTO GYR -LIII EXPOSICION NACIONAL DE GANADO CEBU- TUXTLA GUTIERREZ, CHIAPAS

The show ring reflected the evolution of the Gyr breed in Mexico, showcasing both females and males with strong evidence of their dairy characteristics. Females with well-developed udders and males with impressive masculinity and conformation, capable of competing for championships in many countries, were among the highlights. This event, held from December 12th to 18th in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, featured 104 female and male animals from 16 ranches in Michoacán, Sinaloa, Tabasco, Veracruz, Yucatán, and Chiapas. These animals displayed superior udders and an overall balance of productivity, fertility, milk production, longevity, hardiness, and beauty. This showcase served to highlight advancements in genetic improvement, allowing for comparison with other livestock farms and specimens. It also invited dual-purpose cattle farmers and breeders of synthetic breeds to utilize the potential of the exhibited animals for crossbreeding with European dairy or beef breeds, or to balance the genetic makeup of synthetic breed herds. The Fair also provided new producers with access to fresh and frozen semen and embryos, effective tools for establishing top-tier livestock operations. These resources offer significant leaps in genetic improvement within a single generation and represent the best option for increasing the number of offspring obtained through available biotechnology methods. In this context, Luciana Queiroz, a member of ABCZ, spent hours evaluating, from the nose to the tassel of each animal, the work of Mexican breeders forged over several generations, using criteria based on scores of the positive characteristics of each animal, awarding the pennants to the champions who met all the dairy and functional characteristics.
