Visiting Sanliurfa and staying for a night at a Imam's in south Turkey - Motorcycle Roadtrip

After months on the road, my solo motorcycle journey across Turkey took an incredible and unexpected turn. From the "City of Prophets" to a midnight invitation from three Imams, this is a day I will never forget. `I start my day in Sanliurfa (Urfa), waking up in a feline sanctuary before exploring the sacred Balıklıgöl (The Fish Pool). This ancient site is steeped in legend, where the Prophet Abraham was said to have been saved from the fire. After wandering through the authentic, spice-filled souks of the old city, I hit the road heading east. The adventure gets real when a simple search for a wild camping (bivouac) spot leads me to a group of locals. To my surprise, I found myself sharing a meal and deep conversations about faith and politics with three local Imams. Their kindness was overwhelming—from a traditional home-cooked meal (with a fascinating look at local customs) to the mystical experience of hearing the call to prayer from inside the mosque. I wrap up the night with the ultimate gesture of Turkish hospitality: an invitation to sleep inside the mosque on the prayer rugs. 📍 Follow my trip: 📸 Instagram –   / manman_bzh   #motorcycle #camping #travel #roadtrip #backpacking
