Mike Buley – Candidate for Costa Mesa Mayor 2026

On March 25, 2026, Mike Buley held his Mayoral Launch Party at the Harper Barbecue restaurant in Costa Mesa. We attended and interviewed a number of the guests and recorded Mike’s entire speech. Mike Buley was elected to City Council District 1 in 2024 and has shown his commitment to the community. He has attended every council meeting and consistently promoted transparency and practical, common-sense governance. He supports greater citizen involvement through committees focused on financial oversight and city planning, giving residents a stronger voice. During challenging budget times, Mike has stood firm against spending limited public funds on projects that fail to deliver meaningful benefits to taxpayers. He consistently advocates for responsible budgeting, efficient government, and accountability to the people the city serves. Mike's 34 years as a civil litigation trial attorney makes him uniquely qualified to investigate and research the complex issues impacting our city, and then to negotiate effectively on behalf of our residents. Mike's practice has included trying complex business, real estate, and contract dispute matters. He has litigated matters where he has worked with City Attorneys as well as the California Attorney General's Office. Mike's reputation in the legal community is that he is smart, tough, fair, and most importantly he can disagree with an adversary without being disagreeable.
