Since October 11, 2014, it has served as the de facto administrative center of the oblast. Until 2020, it was a city of oblast significance. It is the center of the Kramatorsk agglomeration and a key center of heavy engineering in Ukraine. It is located on the Kazennyi Torets River (a tributary of the Seversky Donets). Population: 147,145 (2022) Energomashspetsstal is a Ukrainian engineering company located in Kramatorsk (Donetsk Oblast). It produces specialty cast and forged products in custom and small-scale production for the metallurgy, shipbuilding, energy (wind, steam, hydro, and nuclear), and general engineering industries. The company possesses state-of-the-art metallurgical, metalworking, and machining equipment and is capable of completing the entire production cycle. The plant is located on the left bank of the Belenkaya (Belyanka) River, where it flows into the Kazennyi Torets River. Its area is 136 hectares.
