Big Woods Country Bedding Cut- Cutting Hardwoods on Great Topo Lines
Having hunting land in big woods country can be tough. Often deer numbers are lower and they can be harder to pattern. But when you own the property, you can make your situation better. You can increase your deer carrying capacity, even in big woods country. Well positioned food sources and man-made deer bedding can create a predictable line of movement you can capitalize on. In this video, I laid out a bedding cut on a big woods property that had a wide open understory. This cut will only get better with each passing year and help this property to actually hold deer during the deer season. For more about Purpose-Filled Habitat Management, check out my website at https://www.pfhabitat.com/ For foliar treatment of buckthorn I treat them with a 5% solution of Triclopyr 4. For cut stump I treat the stump with a 25% solution of Triclopyr 4/ 75% diesel or crop oil. I like to mix in applicator dye with both solutions to see where I'm spraying easier. You end up using less chemical if you mix in dye.
