Theatres of Italy (1998) - English version

The video tells the story of the rebirth of performance venues during the Italian Renaissance, rising from the ruins of the theatres of antiquity. The Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, the theatre in Sabbioneta and the Teatro Farnese in Parma are the key stages in a process that led to the advent of the Italian-style theatre, exemplified here by the Teatro La Fenice in Venezia, filmed a few months before the last fire (footage from 1995). Documentary film made in 1998.
