Porsche's abandoned V8 'Super Turbo' 911 project: up close to the only prototype left!

However, the 965 – late renamed 969 – was in fact an internal model designation for a significant new super sports car Porsche was developing. The 965 was set to sit between the 911 Turbo and hallowed 959, and would have made headlines for two reasons: its was to be water-cooled, and there would be no flat six in the back of it, Porsche instead developing a V8! However, the project was canned, and only one prototype remains – the very car you see here.
