It's the first-ever official watch for the team – which will be worn by all members, including designers, aerodynamicists, race engineers, strategists and mechanics. Based on the successful, slightly smaller 41mm  50mm lug-to-lug) Pilots Chronograph range released in 2019, the Mercedes-AMG edition comes fittingly in a lightweight titanium case. You also get two straps with the watch, a colour matched Petronas blue/ green rubber strap and an embossed calfskin strap, both utilising the Eas-XCHANGE® quick-release strap system. In fact, it is a go-to staple of the brand, again, known for utility and legibility. But in the spirit of collaboration, however, the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition “Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula OneTM Team” incorporates a rarely seen Petronas green colour for the hands, indices and indicators. From the thick Arabic numerals to the day and date indications peering out through individual apertures at 3′, the eye-catching colour is utilised throughout. At 12′ you have a 30-minute elapsed minutes register, at 9′ a 12-hour elapsed hours register, and at 6′ a running seconds register. Each of the register hands, the central hours and minutes hands, and the boxed and triangle indices at 12′, 3′, 6′, and 9′ are coated with SuperLuminova® for visibility in darkness. And on the subject of visibility, the sapphire crystal, which is secured against drops in air pressure, is AR-coated on both sides to remove any glare while reading the time.
