Iran war 'is getting out of control,' United Nations leader warns

After 12 consecutive nights of military strikes, President Donald Trump said he's considering a major attack on Iran. Iranian leaders also signaled willingness to escalate fighting with the help of Houthi rebels in Yemen. Many of America's partners and allies are worried. "The situation is getting out of control. It’s teetering on the edge of the unimaginable. The region is being pulled into an ever-widening circle of confrontation," United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres said Thursday. Guterres urged warring leaders to end attacks on civilian infrastructure and return to diplomacy. Hours later, Trump claimed Iran wants to negotiate, "but I say they're not ready yet." "There is no military solution to the conflict. Fighting must stop everywhere in the region.
