This program is intended for ages 16 and up. At the turn of July and August 1944, the largest tank battle in modern-day Poland took place on the outskirts of Warsaw. The Germans managed to prevent the Red Army from quickly capturing Praga with a tank raid. Their success had particularly tragic consequences for the Poles. Two tank corps of the 2nd Panzer Army were designated as the front-line attackers on Warsaw: General Vedenyev's 3rd Tank Corps, General Popov's 8th Guards Tank Corps. In turn, General Dubovoi's 16th Tank Corps (without the 109th Tank Brigade and the 6th Guards Heavy Tank Regiment – ​​the army reserve) covered the Vistula River line near Dęblin until July 28th, waiting to be relieved by units of the 8th Guards Army and the 1st Polish Army (renamed the 1st Polish Army). Therefore, it could not participate in the first phase of the attack. On the morning of July 27th, the assault group had a total of 415 tanks and armored guns in two corps and the army reserve, and with the 16th Tank Corps remaining on the Vistula, the entire army had 549 combat-ready tanks and armored guns. A further 160 vehicles were undergoing ongoing repairs. Their opponent was General Franeck's 73rd Infantry Division, deployed in the Garwolin area, along with subordinate units of the "Hermann Goering" Parachute-Armored Division. These forces formed Battle Group Franeck. The 73rd Infantry Division was recreated in Hungary in June 1944 after its destruction near Sevastopol that spring, and from early July it concentrated near Warsaw, regrouping its units on nearby training grounds. Its concentration ended (only a portion of the division's forces—the 2nd StuG armored gun company in the armored rifle battalion—did not reach the division before the battle; the 3rd Flak Company of that battalion and the divisional reserve battalion were also en route from the Reich; the 2nd Battalion of the 170th Infantry Regiment was also dispatched from the division to defend Siedlce) in the second half of July. By July 26, Combat Group Franeck had secured the advanced position between Garwolin and Stoczek.
