Croxon's Historical Pub Tours - Bloomsbury
In this episode we are in the historic, academic and cultural district of Bloomsbury, visiting seven superb pubs and exploring some fascinating historical events and locations. We investigate the site of an inspired philanthropic act, the home of one the world's greatest authors, a former horse hospital, a beautiful London square, a lovely Georgian church, and the administrative centre of London University. The range of pubs we visit include two superb Georgian pubs, one of which has surprising royal connections, Victorian pubs with literary connections, another pub with original fixtures illustrating Victorian class divisions, a further one associated with a riot and the tragic death of a young police officer, and a fascinating and unique 20th Century art-deco pub.
