Sesión On-line: "Prótesis Total Digital: ¿moda, futuro o herramienta clínica?"

Synopsis: The talk “Digital Complete Dentures: Fad, Future, or Clinical Tool?” addresses the current role of digital workflows in the rehabilitation of the completely edentulous patient. It will analyze whether digital complete dentures represent merely a technological trend or if they truly offer clinical advantages over conventional procedures. Through a practical approach, the main applications, advantages, limitations, and selection criteria will be reviewed, including scanning, CAD design, milling, 3D printing, and communication with the laboratory. Clinical challenges that still depend on professional judgment will also be discussed, such as functional impression taking, intermaxillary registration, vertical dimension, esthetics, and patient adaptation. The lecture aims to help general dentists identify when a digital workflow can improve the predictability, efficiency, and reproducibility of treatment, and when it is preferable to use conventional or hybrid techniques. The central message is that technology does not replace the fundamentals of complete dentures, but rather can enhance them when applied with clinical judgment. Speaker: Mtro.
