Here is a nostalgia fuelled tour of all the Pokemon hometown themes across the generations. I want this track to feel like a warm hug, with gentle dynamics and lush harmonies. (GEN 2) New Bark Town - This one sticks to the original chiptune for the most part. It's probably the most nostalgic of the tracks for me. It adds a bit of contrast following Pallet town by being a bit more energetic and articulate (not just legato with pedal) with a more rhythmic accompaniment. (GEN 3) Littleroot Town - Here we go back to calm lush harmonies bathed in pedal. This one gets a bit more varied towars the end but I didn't want to disrupt the overall calm nature of the track. (GEN 4) Twinleaf Town - This one take quite a departure from the original. I've done a cover of this track before (link:    • Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Twinleaf Town Th...   ) that sticks closer to the original vibes, but I wanted to do something different and the medley needed some contrast from all the preceding calm. It goes into a variety of styles, most notably: Ragtime/Stride and even a Waltz for a brief moment. Definitely one of the more fun to play and arrange. (GEN 5) Nuvema Town - Generation 5 was a soft-reboot for the series and I think the music reflect that. It's the only hometown tune that is in compound meter, giving it a distinct feel from all the rest. Also the accompaniment was begging for a 16th note (double speed) variation, and I'm surprised that no one else, to my knowledge, has done it yet (If you know another version that does let me know in the comments). Probably the most fun to play and (barring nostalgia) my favorite of the bunch. (GEN 6) Vaniville Town - I'm gonna be honest and say this is the game I remember the least about. The theme itself is nice and relaxing. The easiest of the medley to play. (GEN 7) Iki Town Night - One of the most calming of the hometown themes. Perhaps specifically because it is the night version of the track. The arrangement itself, is very improvisatory. AKA I knew the harmonies and had a vague plan for how I wanted the track to go/what accompanimental figurations I wanted to use, and just went for it. No two takes would be the same. (GEN 8) Postwick Town - The trickiest to play out of the bunch. I didn't have time to really give this track the love it deserves (I cut off the last phrase of the original and would have liked to fill out some of the harmonies more) as the theme is one of the longest and most complex of any of the town tunes (maybe a bit overcomposed imho). The fact it has so many different layers (melody, inner chromatic shift harmonies, and a driving 8th note bass) all contribute to the difficulty. It's also one of the ebergetic hometown tunes as most are more calming in nature. (GEN 9) Home Theme - There really isn't a 'hometown' in these games so I decided to do the literal 'Home' theme instead. The second half leads into a brief finale that quotes the OG Pokemon motif.
