France's former ambassador to Israel and US Gérard Araud discusses the war in Gaza • FRANCE 24

As the war between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza continues, FRANCE 24 spoke to France's former ambassador to Israel and the US Gérard Araud about Biden's role in the ongoing conflict and his belief in the necessity of trying to reach a two-state solution. "The situation is terrible for Biden..it's politically impossible for Biden" as the US is in an election year, Araud tells FRANCE 24. "Biden is trapped. Especially because Netanyahu is not going to change his strategy. Israel is going to go as far as they consider it necessary to fulfill their military goals...sooner or later, Netanyahu is going to stab Biden in the back" as he would like to see Trump re-elected this coming November, adds Araud. A proponent of the two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict, Araud says that the major problem to achieving this is "that there are no negotiators on either side".
