Cessna L19 Bird Dog WALK AROUND

Cessna L19 Bird Dog STOL plane used extensively in the jungles of Vietnam throughout the war. KY Models ¼ scale Bird Dog ARF, which took a bunch of days to complete. Uses a Rim Fire 160 motor on 12 cell, nearly 50 volts. I installed a Castle Creations 80 amp HV esc with their Pro 50 volt BEC. I used all new Hitec HS 625MG analog servos. The control box is a Flex Innovations Aura 8 with two Spectrum satellite receivers attached. I added 4” DuBro air filled tires. With concerns about a stabilizer failure I uncovered the bottom of the elevator and installed triangular gussets in every joint to reinforce it. Metal braces that connect together on all the tail feathers. The elevator was pinned to the fuselage. A SIG double leaf spring tail wheel was installed. I use two HK 5000 mah 6 cell batteries connected in series to power this beast. The Bird Dog flies on half throttle and I can get 15 minute flights. The Aura 8 combined with the scale dihedral self-levels and it flies very smoothly.    • Cessna L19 Bird Dog WALK AROUND
