ECO ACT | Kelas Literasi Minyak Jelantah dari Sisi Kesehatan

Jakarta continues to face various environmental challenges, from water pollution and air pollution to ecosystem degradation. One source of pollution that often goes unnoticed is the used cooking oil produced daily by households and culinary businesses. The 2024 Ciliwung River Pollution Source Inventory indicates that culinary MSMEs have the potential to contribute to environmental pollution through liquid waste, used cooking oil, food waste, and energy consumption. Furthermore, the culinary sector also plays a crucial role as a driver of the community's economy. Therefore, improving environmental quality requires an approach that encompasses not only monitoring but also coaching and empowerment. Since 2025, the Jakarta Provincial Environmental Agency has developed ECO ACT (Education, Collaboration, and Action) as an environmental development approach for MSMEs. One implementation is the establishment of Green Culinary, an initiative that encourages culinary businesses to adopt healthier, more economically valuable, and environmentally friendly business practices. As part of this effort, the Used Cooking Oil Literacy Series was developed, presenting material from three main perspectives: health, economics, and the environment. This material was developed in collaboration with speakers from the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of MSMEs, and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), providing a comprehensive understanding of responsible used cooking oil management.
