Trailer - Introduction to Finite Element Analysis using PrePoMax/Calculix

Introduction to Finite Element Analysis using PrePoMax/Calculix course aims to develop a theoretical background for finite element method and transform the theoretical knowledge into practical examples using an open-source FEA platform of PrePoMax. Course starts with an overview of the FEM using truss and beam elements. Then, plane stress, plane strain and axisymmetric elements were introduced with the theory behind them and their applications in PrePoMax. FEM modelling of shell structures and solids were introduced in PrePoMax. Then, some special topics including CAD model preparation, contact modelling, constraints, convergence, etc. were presented in PrePoMax. Finally, two industrial examples were conducted using PrePoMax. At the end of this lecture, students will learn both theoretical and practical aspects of finite element analysis using an open source PrePoMax platform.
