Tacx Neo 2T review

The Tacx Neo 2T smart trainer is a direct drive (wheel-off) indoor cycling turbo trainer made by Tacx, who are now owned by Garmin. 00:00 Introduction 01:27 Setup 03:12 Mounting my bike 06:48 Close-up look 08:35 Demo and features 14:04 Noise set 16:09 Conclusion It is at the top end of the market with the highest price tag but also has the strongest range of features, handing 2,200 Watts and simulating gradients of up to 25%. It is also super quiet. It has a bunch of features that nobody else (currently) has: no calibration required, it will work without power so you can use it in a car park or accidentally pull the power cable out, downhill simulation that spins the flywheel forward on descents and will even rumble when you go over the cobbles on Zwift. What don't I like about it? It is hard to get it on the thing. The thru-axle is hard to connect. I've sent a video to Garmin but we didn't resolve it. It goes on after some fiddling, though, and it's not bad enough that I've given up and swapped trainers. After all, it still kicks ass at everything else. There is also the question of whether you need all of these features. Rubble and downhill simulation do give a more realistic road feel but you probably don't want these features when racing. And how often do you tackle a 25% hill? I've never had it at more than about 15% in the 18 months I've been using it. Overall, though, if you have the money to spare, this is a great turbo trainer.
