While the pope is dead and the cardinals are about to enter into conclave, the Illuminati, an ancient and powerful secret society hunted by the Catholic Church, steal antimatter from CERN in Geneva and place this time bomb in the Vatican. In addition, they kidnap the preferiti, the most papal cardinals, and send a video to the Swiss Guard explaining that they intend to kill one every hour before the bomb explodes. Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks of Forrest Gump, Philadelphia and Big), a professor of symbology at Harvard University, who has been repeatedly denied access to his archives by the Church, is urgently called by the Vatican to help them deliver the preferiti and find the bomb.
