The Ghanaian loincloth, or Kente, has two origins: a legend and a historical fact. Legend has it that two brothers, while out in the forest, saw a spider weaving a web and were dazzled. Upon their return to the village, they decided to do the same. On the other hand, the history of Kente is even more complex: it traces the history of the Ashanti people. Also, during my research, I was able to observe that the origin of this multicolored fabric was disputed between the Ashanti and the Ewe, two major ethnic groups in Ghana.
