Nidá - we finally arrived in Nida! We had the pleasure of sailing for 2 hours. This time we had only 3 hours for a walk, so we were not able to see all the riches of Nida. But we decided to go to the Parnidžio dune, stop by the Vytautas Kernagis bench, walk around and have a quiet coffee. Nida is the southernmost settlement in Lithuania. The dunes near Nida are impressive. Among the largest dunes are the Parnidis dune with the Sundial, Urbas hill (where the Nida lighthouse is located), the Great Dune or the Great Dune, Didžioji kopa. The border with Russia runs through the middle of the Great Dune. Kernagis (1951 - 2008) - actor, songwriter and performer, a pioneer of poetry singing in Lithuania. The unforgettable role of Ben in the film "Little Confession" forever linked V. Kernagis with Nida, so in 2009, a sculpture of V. Kernagis was unveiled on the lagoon embankment. He always eagerly awaits friends who want to sit next to him and take a photo as a keepsake. Sundial on the Parnidis Dune The Parnidis Dune, which is 52 meters high, opens up the horizon. There is an observation deck from where you can admire the wonderful views of open dunes, lagoons, sea, forest, and the panorama of Nida, so capturing the wonderful landscapes here is simply a must. In addition, this is the only place in Lithuania where you can watch the sun rise from the surface of the water and set in the water. In 1995, a sundial was built on the top of the dune - a calendar showing the exact time in this place. Check if your watch is in tune with Nida. Stop by a local bakery for a morning cup of tea.
