Alpenmasters 2026: Ducati Monster+ vs. Triumph Trident 800 – Wer gewinnt die Midnakeds?

The Alpenmasters 2026 is here – and it kicks off with a thrilling duel in the Midnaked category! Alex and editor-in-chief Jens Möller-Töllner put two brand-new naked bikes through their paces: the Ducati Monster Plus with its new 998cc V-twin engine and the Triumph Trident 800 with its smooth three-cylinder. The test takes place on an extended Sella Ronda route in the Dolomites around the Passo Pordoi – a good 100 kilometers with countless mountain passes, tight hairpin bends, and plenty of elevation gain. The starting point is Canazei. The conditions? Low temperatures, up to 20 cm of snow at the pass summit and on the motorcycles. True Alpine conditions! The bikes are judged using a special 500-point system in the categories of engine, handling, everyday usability, and comfort. The Triumph impresses with its silky-smooth triple engine, which delivers smooth torque in every corner – regardless of the gear. The Ducati demands a bit more from its rider with its typical V2 character, but scores points for its excellent downhill braking with a passenger thanks to its superbly implemented ABS. When it comes to everyday use, the Trident's greater range (318 km vs. 286 km) speaks for itself. In the end, the Triumph Trident 800 narrowly beats the Ducati Monster Plus with 351 points to 340 and is the first finalist to advance to the Alpenmasters final – where it will compete against all the other category winners and last year's winner, the Ducati Multistrada V2 S.
