KANSAS demo tape for “Cat’s PJ’s” 1978, written & performed by Kerry Livgren for “Monolith” sessions

Kerry Livgren wrote and played all the parts on this demo (keys, guitar, bass, and tambourine) around 1978. It is all instrumental here, and he can’t recall if he ever had a melody line for a vocal part. Much is reminiscent of what Genesis of the mid-late 70s might’ve come up with, including the synth solo in a Tony Banks vein. Kansas never did anything with it for “Monolith” or beyond, nor did it show up on any Kerry Livgren AD or solo projects in later years. This rarity is shared to help honor Kansas on their 50th Anniversary, and was edited by Mark Hollingsworth, Grace Jester, and Joanie Kemper.
