Chapter 10 1 of 2 Make Decisions and Solve Problems

Everyday life is an endless sequence of decision-making and problem-solving. The quality of the decisions we make coupled with our competence in solving problems largely determine the quality of our lives. Most people work through decisions and problems in an intuitive way. They go with their first reactions and conclusions. They have no systematic way by which to deal with decisions and problems. Sometimes this haphazard approach works. But sometimes it doesn’t. When we bring critical thinking tools into our decision-making and problem-solving processes, we are more likely to solve the problems we face and make rational decisions. In this chapter, we provide an integrated approach to working through decisions and problems. First, we address decision-making, then problem-solving.
