In my latest video, I explain the causes of the dispute, which reach deep into the history of the Indian subcontinent. Just as today, forces from around the world were involved in the conflict. China sided with Pakistan – just as it does now. The Pakistani command believed that with the support of the Kashmiri people, it could tip the scales of victory in its favor. The Indian army was stronger at the time, but its superiority was not yet overwhelming. However, Islamabad realized that with each passing year, this gap would widen – to Pakistan's disadvantage. Therefore, on the night of August 5-6, 1965, hundreds of Pakistani commandos, disguised as civilians, began infiltrating the Kashmir Valley. However, they failed to gain the support of the local population. In response, the Indian Army launched retaliatory operations in the Jammu region. The fighting quickly moved into the mountains, where intense clashes involving artillery and tanks took place.
