Ché Guevara: el mito de Latinoamérica | Fernando Díaz Villanueva
Fernando Díaz Villanueva explores the origins of the Che Guevara myth. Guevara was a young Argentinian named Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, from an upper-middle-class background with an adventurous spirit, who embarked on a journey through several Latin American countries. There, he was influenced by socialist leaders Hilda Gadea Acosta, with whom he had a romantic relationship, and the Castro Ruz brothers, whom he supported in carrying out the Cuban Revolution. Upon their rise to power, they assigned him political positions that he proved incapable of fulfilling. Díaz Villanueva explains that after his failures as a public servant, he decided to pursue a career as a professional revolutionary, a path that ultimately led to his death. Finally, he shares how Giangiacomo Feltrinelli constructed the Che Guevara myth and brought fame to the photograph that transformed him into a historical figure, whose image is now displayed on t-shirts and other merchandise by many young people. He also discusses the disastrous consequences of the countless deaths caused by Guevara's misguided teachings.
